Also, many karate-ka get lost in the beauty of the forms (kata) and forget about the final objective of every single karate technique, which is efficiency. A kata, no matter how fancy or beautiful it looks, has fundamental components that can be used for many purposes, like physical conditioning, self-defense, health, etc. The ability to execute the techniques of karate correctly must be combined with the power to damage an opponent when necessary."
